You know what, livejournal? I was going to post a great insightful link with all my thoughts and feels, but I'm so pissed off at your new posting interface that I'm going back to fucking Tumblr.

Fuck you. Yeah, that's right. Up the bum. Not in good ways.

(Although really, I should use the fuck out of you - with huge pictures!! - since I paid for my perm account LONG ago and will only cost you money! FUCKA-YOU.)

I'm letting my paid account expire. 8D

Maybe I'll feel like posting more though after my thesis-trauma wears off. ;o;

I've been lurking on your LJ for too many years now (I read a lot, I just don't comment), but as long as we're on the Tumblr schtick - http://thetattooedmezzosoprano.tumblr.com/

As much as I still dislike tumblr's lack of permanence, I'm really starting to see why the migration happened.

LJs been making some weird decisions in the last few years.

I just hate that it's so difficult to have meaningful converstations. Even with missing E installed barely any posts have a comment function, you have to reblog and then they reblog and then it just turns into this huge mess of reposting and ARG.
(Also at some point I'm sure I'll get tired of scrolling through pretty pictures. Right? .... right???)

So I'll probably still stick around here a while longer. *sighs*

Yeah, I don't like all the changes either. LJ is so empty now, too! I'm not even doing most of my blogging here anymore :( I'm blogging mostly on my diet blog on sparkpeople.. lol

Whenever I do post, though, I have to go fishing for the link on the posting page for the old format. I never DLed a client, so I've always done it through the website, and you can view the old posting page and old freind's pages wth a small text link.

I don't really regret buying my premenant account, because I've gotten a LOT of use out of it. The slow, gasping, painful death of LJ just makes me sad is all :/

I still haven't quite decided about tumblr. It's shite for a medium of posting fanfic and actually talking to people and stuff. But it is a nice timesuck for looking at pretty pictures...

I feel you on both sides of this. I sincerely dislike tumblr for all the reasons that you said, but lately even posting on Dreamwidth has felt like I'm shouting into a vacuum. There's just no one there, it seems -- at least not for the fandoms I'm into right now. :(

So... tumblr it is. I've gotten used to the interface, even if I don't love it (and really never will)... but I do enjoy all the pretty pictures and gifsets, NGL. ;)

Where are you on tumblr? My fandom blog is at "eirenical" and my personal blog is at "rensrendition", if you'd like to find me over there. ^_~

I'm never sure if I'm shouting into the void because I'm in the wrong place or if it's just 'cause my fandoms are so small. D: I HAVE found significantly more dark city love on tumblr, but I've discovered that it's kind of shit as a platform for sharing fanfic because you're basically always directing people off site. And fic is kind of what's most important to me. :(
I also feel like Tumblr is encouraging people to be super lazy in their interactions. liking and reblogging. UG.

I'm Schreberpants. XD It just kind of... happened.

There is always that. :-P I've felt that way, too, but I've been involved in some larger fandoms lately and it seems like no one's there, either. In fact, the most DW/LJ interaction I get seems to be around Yuletide because that's still LJ based. But if I want day to day interaction, tumblr, sadly, seems to be it these days. :-P

As for fic, I totally agree. It's a totally crap platform for it. But since I've been getting so little action on anything I post on LJ lately, I've started posting exclusively to AO3 and ff.net, anyway. And tumblr works just fine for sharing links to fic. And I've found that I kind of enjoy having everything consolidated in one place.

I also feel like Tumblr is encouraging people to be super lazy in their interactions. liking and reblogging. UG.

Oh, without question. But I've mostly wrapped my head around the idea that people who only "like" or "kudos" something are probably people who would have left no feedback whatsoever on LJ, so at least there's that much feedback. And when you hook up with the right friends on tumblr, they find ways to have conversations, either by using 'missing e' to respond to posts or by messaging or by reblogging ad nauseum, but we find ways. ;)

What bugs me most about tumblr is the impermanence of it. If you want to locate something from longer ago than about two weeks... pfft. Forget it. Unless you've been really careful in your own tagging you know you reblogged it, you are NOT finding it again. :-P Annoying.

But... Schreberpants, huh? *chuckles* I'll be on the lookout for you! ^_~
